BetterHelp Online Therapy Services

BetterHelp Online Therapy Services

Service Description:

BetterHelp is an online therapy service that offers certified counselors for a significantly lower price than regular therapy. BetterHelp charges 35 dollars per month with unlimited access to a certified counselor. The company also offers a free trial which requires a credit card submit in which you will be billed at a later date if you do not cancel. The counseling services are offered through web chat, email, texting messaging, phone call and video chat.

BetterHelp identifies what kind of counselor to match you with by using a short questionnaire during the sign-up process. The survey asks your gender, mental health issues (such as, if you have depression, anxiety attacks or other) and also asks questions about substance abuse or sleep problems. The company also claims that all the information submitted will remain confidential in the same way regular therapy would.

Company Description:

BetterHelp was founded in 2013 by Alon Matas. The goal of the company was to provide private services that help people on a regular basis without any sort of ‘therapy stigma.’ In 2015 the company was acquired by Teladoc, inc a telehealth company.  The company has provided service to over 200,000 people with a total of nearly 2,000,000 therapy sessions.
